ONLY THE BEST PEOPLE: JAMES WOODS

Actor James Woods distinguishes himself from others in the entertainment industry who support Donald Trump because he has actual talent.

Woods established himself as an Academy Award-winning actor by playing creepy, unstable jerks like U.S. Sen. Joseph McCarthy accomplice and Donald Trump mentor Roy Cohn in Citizen Cohn.

It wasn’t until he became involved in politics that we learned Woods wasn’t acting; he is a creepy, unstable, jerk.

Newsweek magazine once compiled many of Woods’ pro-Trump tweets into an article. I’ve included the link here.

On August 12, 2020, three months before the presidential election, Woods urged his followers to re-elect Trump: “This is our last stand, folks. And here’s your last defender. If they take him down, America is gone forever. Vote for @realDonaldTrump like your life depends on it.”pic.twitter.com/Yb2IcD9nXJ

This appeared an odd argument for a president whose reckless disregard for human life and gross inability to manage the coronavirus pandemic contributed to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans.

Biden won the election.

On November 22, 2020, almost three weeks after the election, Woods tweeted,

“The reason they hate Trump is because the hogs from both parties swill at the same trough. One man alone tried to beat The Swamp. They mounted a jihad against him heretofore unseen in politics. They capped it off with the most crooked election in history.”

Woods did not identify who he meant by “they.”

But it no doubt had to do with those democracy-loving Americans. Damn them.

On January 6, 2021, a Trump-inspired jihad attacked the U.S. Capitol.

In 2022, analysis conducted by researchers with the University of Washington’s Center for an Informed Public and the Krebs Stamos Group found Woods was the top purveyor of election misinformation on Twitter during the late months of 2020.
