Allen Weisselberg, the chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, was sentenced to five months in jail for operating a 13-year scheme to defraud federal, state, and local tax authorities of $1.76 million in taxes.

Weisselberg, as part of his sentence, was ordered to pay more than $2 million in taxes.

Weisselberg pled guilty in August 2022 to 15 counts, including grand larceny, fraud, and criminal tax fraud.

In exchange for a lesser sentence, he agreed to testify against Trump and his organization in a fraud lawsuit by New York District Attorney Letitia James. James was seeking $250 million in penalties and a ban on Trump ever doing business again in New York.

Judge Arthur Engoron concluded that Trump and other defendants, including Weisselberg, committed fraud by exaggerating the value of Trump’s assets and the net worth on his financial statements.

The lawsuit involves allegations of conspiracy, insurance fraud and falsifying business records. James is asking for $250 million in penalties and a ban on Trump doing business in New York.
