Indiana University basketball coach Bobby Knight kept his job after, among other things, assaulting a man in a restaurant parking lot, assaulting a Puerto Rican police officer, kicking a player, choking a player, shoving an opposing team’s fan into a trash can, and verbally abusing a high-ranking female university administrator.
Indiana University put Knight on probation and then “double secret probation,” before finally firing him after he grabbed an undergraduate student by the arm and cursed at him.

There is not enough space on the internet to list all of Knight’s repugnant behaviors or include all his offensive quotes.
Knight once made this comment about rape: ”I think that if rape is inevitable, relax and enjoy it.”
In 2017, Knight was asked if he would ever return to Indiana University during an interview on The Dan Patrick sports radio show, he said he would never return and hoped the administrators who contributed to his dismissal “are all dead.”
Indianapolis sports radio personality Dan Dakich, who once played for Knight, condemned the comment. “He just said the other day on another show that he wanted everybody that fired him dead, which is awful,” Dakich said. “The fact of the matter is, two of them are and they have families. I’m done [with Knight].”

The FBI and U.S. Army investigated Knight after four women who worked at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency said he groped them before and after he gave a speech at the agency in 2015.
The Washington Post’s Craig Whitlock reported the women “accused Knight of a range of boorish behavior: from touching them on the shoulder while commenting on the attractiveness of their legs, to hugging them too tightly around the chest, to hitting them on the buttocks.”
Donald Trump said Knight was one of the people who urged him to run for president after Knight, in an incoherent speech, introduced Trump at an Indiana rally.
A year before Trump announced his candidacy, he got a call from Knight asking him to run for president. “Trump! This is Bobby Knight and you gotta run for president,” Trump said, remembering the call. “Our country needs you.”
So we have a psychotic, misogynistic college basketball coach with anger-management issues to thank for having a psychotic, misogynistic real estate developer with anger-management issues as president.
There is at least one difference between Knight and Trump.
Knight was successful as a coach.
