John Eastman, a former law clerk for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, was once dean of the Chapman University School of Law. He had a good job, family, and maybe even friends.
He now faces several felonies and probable disbarment.
What was the reason for his demise?
Drugs? Gambling? Booze? Sniffing glue?
No.
He went to work for Donald Trump.

Donald Trump, after losing the 2020 Presidential Election, went trolling in sewers for a lawyer or lawyers who could overturn the election on any possible grounds, regardless of whether it was constitutional, rational, legal, or laughable.
John Eastman argued that Vice President Pence had the authority to toss out real electors and throw the election to Trump. Pence rejected Eastman’s argument.
The California State Bar’s Office of Chief Trial Counsel charged Eastman with violating his oath to the U.S. and California state constitutions by participating in the plot to overturn the election. If the body rules against Eastman, he will be disbarred.
In late August, Eastman surrendered himself to the Fulton County jail in Atlanta, Georgia. He is charged with nine counts of crimes including racketeering, conspiracy to commit forgery, and filing false documents.
Eastman told Fox News on August 30 that he pressured Pence and characterized the action, in his own words, as “foolish.”
Bradley P. Moss, a lawyer who is an expert on national security, said that Eastman “literally just confessed to the crime.”
In addition, Democratic strategist Max Burns responded: “John Eastman, on trial for trying to impede the certification of presidential electors, admits on Fox that he explicitly wanted to impede the certification of presidential electors.”
