ONLY THE BEST PEOPLE: SIDNEY POWELL

Sidney Powell, an attorney to former President Donald Trump, pleaded guilty to six misdemeanors that charged her with conspiring to overturn Trump’s loss in Georgia in the 2020 Presidential Election.

In exchange for her plea deal, Powell agreed to cooperate with Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump’s efforts to remain in power.

Trump responded to Powell’s guilty plea by saying she was never his attorney.

“Despite the Fake News reports to the contrary, and without even reaching out to ask the Trump Campaign, MS. POWELL WAS NOT MY ATTORNEY, AND NEVER WAS,” he wrote.

Trump said his attorneys are — and always been — John Barron, John Baron, John Miller, Jon Miller, and David Dennison, who don’t exist.

Legal scholars criticized Trump for denying Powell ever worked for him because she is now free to discuss details about her relationship.

Eric Segall, a law professor at Georgia State University, told NBC News that Trump’s statement may hurt him in the course of the investigation into him. “So much for any claims of attorney/client privilege. Not smart,” he said.

This privilege protects private communications between attorneys and their clients.

Powell and 18 other defendants — including Trump — were indicted for participating in a conspiracy to overturn the state’s election results to keep Trump in the White House.

She joined President Donald Trump’s legal team after the 2020 Presidential Election by slavishly defending his lies and exaggerations while appearing with conspiracy peddlers and other Trump defenders on Lou Dobbs Tonight, Hannity, News Max and One America News.

During a press conference on November 19, 2020, she claimed that Trump had actually won the election in a landslide but that voting machines manufactured by Dominion Voting Systems rigged the election. She added that the plot to rig the election involved Venezuela, Cuba, China, Hugo Chavez, George Soros, and the Clinton Foundation.

Oh, yes, and the CIA was involved.

And maybe Elvis.

And perhaps Johnny Depp.

Powell then called for Republican state legislators in swing states to disregard the results and appoint electors who would cast their votes for Trump.

Here’s the best part: She offered absolutely no evidence to support her claims. Not even a fake receipt from the phony Clinton-backed pizza parlor that reportedly ran a human-trafficking and child-sex ring.

Powell’s claims were so extreme, so mind-boggling bonkers, that they were repudiated by other slavish Trump defenders, including Tucker Carlson of Fox News, who said Powell became defensive and then silent when asked for evidence.

“When we checked with others around the Trump campaign, people in positions of authority,” Carlson said, “they told us Powell has never given them any evidence either, nor did she provide any today at the press conference.”

In a mid-December 2020 meeting, six weeks after the election, Powell demanded that other Trump supporters join her in her psychotic episode to seize voting machines to overturn the election.

“It’s basically Sidney versus everybody,” one source familiar with the meeting said. “That is why voices were raised. There is literally not one motherf—-r in the president’s entire orbit — his staunchest group of supporters and allies — who doesn’t think that Sidney Powell should be on that first rocket to Mars.”
