Ben Gibson, while serving as an airman at Barksdale Air Force base in Louisiana, ran for Congress as a Republican in the GOP primary in 2020.
Gibson endorsed President Donald Trump’s “America First” policy and QAnon conspiracies including that there is “a group of Satan-worshiping elites who run a child sex ring are trying to control our politics and media,” according to the New York Times.

Gibson finished fourth in the primary with 6 percent of the vote in his attempt to unseat the incumbent, Mike Johnson, who is now the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Gibson was arrested in December 2020 and soon thereafter charged with four counts of pornography involving juveniles.
