ONLY THE BEST PEOPLE: DIAMOND (Lynette Hardaway) AND SILK (Rochelle Richardson)

Donald Trump falsely questioned whether Barack Obama, America’s first Black president, had been born in the United States. He then gave a racist speech in his announcement that he was running for president after spending decades as a repugnant and unapologetic bigot.

Trump won 8 percent of the black vote in 2016, which exceeded credible estimates by almost 8 percent.

His black supporters included sisters, commentators, and vloggers Diamond (Lynette Hardaway) and Silk (Rochelle Richardson), the Stepin and Fetchit of social media.

Diamond and Silk’s support for Trump got the attention of the Trump campaign, which claimed in a Federal Election Commission document that it paid the celebrities $1,274 for “field consulting.” Diamond and Silk later said they never received a check from the Trump campaign.

Diamond and Silk attacked the Democratic Party as “a plantation” and called Hillary Clinton, Trump’s opponent in the 2016 Presidential Election, a “slave master.” Diamond told viewers during an appearance on Fox News’ Fox and Friends that “Trump is not a racist — he is a realist. And the only color he sees is green, and he wants you to have some of it.”

Bree Newsome, an artist and activist, described Hardaway and Richardson as “a modern-day minstrel show” and stated in an interview that the pair’s presentation relies on “stereotypical images of Black women.”

GOP Congressman Steve King, who was removed from committee assignments because of his repeated racist comments, joined Diamond and Silk for a press conference to announce the Diamond and Silk Act of 2019.

The Washington Examiner described the act as being “named for a clownish YouTube duo who have leveraged their online popularity into regular appearances on Fox News.”

In April 2020, Fox News severed their contract with Diamond and Silk because they had repeatedly spread misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic – even though Fox News had done the same thing. President Trump tweeted his support for the couple.

What happens when someone is considered too extreme for Fox News?

We don’t really know.

We don’t know.

There’s a very small sample size of such people.

Diamond and Silk were hired by Newsmax, where they joined others like them on the island of misfit noise.

Diamond (Lynnette Hardaway) died at the age of 51 in January 2023.

Trump responded to her death by calling her one of the world’s “biggest stars.” He then added that he “didn’t know Silk at all.”

“The world has lost one of its brightest stars but I see that we have another star who was equal to but she stepped up and she is different,” he said.

‘I’m serious. I thought I knew them both. I didn’t, I knew Diamond, but I didn’t know Silk at all. I just learned about Silk.”

Wait a minute, Diamond and Silk were a team.

They were an act. They were called Diamond and Silk.

Trump had met them a number of times.

The New York Post reported that the former president had been photographed with Diamond and Silk numerous times, including in the White House’s Oval Office.
