Jerry Falwell Jr. is the former president of Liberty University and the son of Jerry Falwell Sr., the founder of the conservative, pseudo Christian organization, the Moral Majority, who long provided a cover to a generation of right-wing crackpots to do whatever they wanted as long as they publicly pronounced their Christianity.
To Falwell, Sr., that reward was a multi-millionaire empire and access to ambitious GOP politicians.
Falwell Jr.’s endorsement of Trump’s presidential campaign gave the candidate credibility among evangelicals.
Why did Falwell endorse Trump, given Trump’s well-established reputation as a crooked, fraudulent, bullying, lying, serial sexual abuser?
Perhaps the Bible can provide insight. “A tyrannical ruler practices extortion,” Proverbs 28:16 says.
Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen said he blackmailed Falwell with compromising sexual photos between Falwell, the evangelical Christian university’s president, and his wife.
“I actually have one of the photos,” Cohen said, “It’s terrible.”

That goes without saying.
How could sexual photos of Falwell be anything but?
In January 2016, Falwell invited Trump to speak at Liberty University. Trump cursed twice and then while reading a verse from “Second Corinthians,” called it “Two Corinthians.”
Rookie mistake.
It was after all the first time Trump had opened a Bible.
Falwell’s endorsement of an unscrupulous real estate businessmen and an alleged sexual abuser who bragged about grabbing women by the “pussy” stunned many conservative Christians.
But why?
Falwell was himself an unscrupulous real estate businessmen and a sexual deviant.
On August 7, 2020, the Liberty University board of trustees announced Falwell would be taking an “indefinite leave of absence” as president after the release of a photo he had posted on social media that showed him with his pants unzipped and his arm around the waist of a woman whose shorts were also unzipped.
Two weeks later, Falwell announced that his wife had had an affair and that the two were being blackmailed. Reuters reported that Falwell regularly watched his wife and another man engage in sexual acts. Falwell resigned the next day.
I’m not sure if watching your wife engage in sexual acts with another man makes you an adulterer. But it certainly makes you creepy.
Liberty University then began investigating Falwell’s questionable financial transactions that jeopardized the schools’ non-profit status.

Falwell Jr. clearly has unresolved issues with his former employer, his wife, and maybe even her lover.
But he remains steadfast in his loyalty to Trump, about whom he says does not have “a racist bone in his body,”

When Falwell was asked, “Is there anything President Trump could do that would endanger that support from you or other evangelical leaders?” Falwell answered, “No.”
Oh, my God.
”And when thou prayest,” Matthew 6:5, says, “thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.”
… which may or may not Include dirty pictures of their wife.
