ONLY THE BEST PEOPLE: JOHN LAMBERT

John Lambert and Ryan Fournier created the organization Students for Trump to contribute to the billionaire real estate developer’s presidential campaign in 2016.

The organization spread throughout the country.

“We’ve been told that we’re more organized than the actual Trump campaign,” Lamber told the Chronicle of Higher Education.

High praise indeed.

In February 2016, the organization published a letter that said Fournier and Lambert had recently “met with Mr. Trump and top campaign officials to discuss what lies ahead for our organization. They expressed how proud they were of our efforts and members getting involved in the campaign.”

What lies ahead with Trump is always more lies – as this was the case with Fournier and Lambert.

Trump appeared to have a profound influence on Fournier and John Lambert, the co-founder of Students for Trump: They were far more interested in promoting themselves than in the Trump campaign, as the Trump campaign acknowledged in a cease-and-desist order.

Politico reported that Fournier and Lambert exaggerated their connection with the Trump campaign.

“The Trump campaign did not coordinate or affiliate with Students for Trump in the 2016 campaign,” said Tim Murtaugh, the director of communications for Trump’s reelection campaign told Politico. “In fact, the campaign sent cease and desist letters to Fournier . . . that specifically disavowed their deceptive activities and demanded that they stop presenting themselves as official representatives of the campaign.”

Lambert and Fournier may have quit their association with the Trump campaign, but they did not stop their “deceptive activities.”

Lambert and Fournier, using aliases, posed as attorneys and duped several people out of nearly $50 thousand for supposed legal services, the prosecutors said.

Neither had a license to practice law or had ever attended law school.

The Daily Beast reported that Fournier avoided prosecution by “ratting out his friend.”

In May 2021 Lambert was sentenced to 13 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to a wire fraud conspiracy charge.

He hopes to work as an attorney for Donald Trump when his prison term is done.
