Kash Patel, whom Donald Trump has mentioned as a possible attorney general if he is re-elected president, echoed the former president’s threats of retribution against anyone perceived as a political enemy.
“We will go out and find the conspirators — not just in government, but in the media,” Patel said on Steve Bannon’s podcast in December 2023. “Yes, we’re going to come after the people in the media who lied about American citizens, who helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections.”
“We’re going to come after you. Whether it’s criminally or civilly, we’ll figure that out. But yeah, we’re putting you all on notice, and Steve, this is why they hate us. This is why we’re tyrannical. This is why we’re dictators . . . Because we’re actually going to use the Constitution to prosecute them for crimes they said we have always been guilty of but never have.”

Patel graduated from law school, but apparently was absent during the three years when constitutional law was taught.
Patel served in the Trump Administration as chief of staff to the acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller and as a counterterrorism adviser on the National Security Council.

He learned about the political value of sucking up to Trump.
The New York Times reported that Trump wanted to appoint Patel as either “deputy director of either the C.I.A. or the F.B.I.” but that the president dropped the idea after C.I.A. director Gina Haspel and Attorney General William P. Barr, forcefully protested. The Times said that Barr told Trump’s chief of staff Mark Meadows that Patel would only become deputy F.B.I. director “over my dead body.”
The Times reported that since leaving the White House, Patel has capitalized on his fame as a Trump insider. He has sold ‘Kash’ merchandise on an online store and wrote a children’s book about the Russia investigation in which a ‘King Donald’ is persecuted by a wicked ‘Hillary Queenton.”

The podcast is really called, War Room, because he has declared war on American democracy and the news media.
No democracy can exist with an independent press.
The framers of the Constitution understood that a democracy required an informed citizenry, and it was therefore necessary to have an independent press to inform the people and to investigate those who acted to destroy the democracy.
Such soppy thoughts have no place in the Trump World inhabited by Bannon and Patel.
Bannon once told writer Michael Lewis, “The Democrats don’t matter. The real opposition is the media. And the way to deal with them is to flood the zone with shit.”
