Shortly before the 2020 presidential election, actress Kirstie Alley tweeted, “I’m voting for @realDonaldTrump because he’s NOT a politician. I voted for him 4 years ago for this reason and shall vote for him again for this reason. He gets things done quickly and he will turn the economy around quickly. There you have it, folks, there you have it.”
She did not say why anyone should care about the thoughts of a has-been actor whose fame had come on the television program “Cheers,” and since the program had gone off the air in 1993, she had disappeared from television except for appearing on short-lived twaddle called “Victoria’s Closet.”
Other actors were amused by Alley’s tweet because it suggested that Trump was not responsible for an economy that had collapsed while he was president and that being a politician was an obstacle for a political office.
“Actually, he’s running for re-election. He’s a politician,” actor Diedrich Bader pointed out. “Also, strange argument, like ‘I want someone who’s NOT a pilot to land the plane.’ ”
Alley was not done.
In another tweet that day, she released her inner lunatic or Donald Trump (and I repeat myself) by raging against CNN with a lot of CAPITAL LETTERS and exclamation points about the COVID hoax.
“I now know why my personal friends who walks around in SHEER TERROR of contracting Covid are simply CNN viewers! I decided to watching CNN myself to get their viewpoint and oh my God DID I EVER!!!! IF YOU WANT TO LIVE IN TERROR WATCH CNN!!! FEAR OF DYING IS THEIR MANTRA! OMG!
CNN responded as follows:
“Kirstie, you are welcome to change the channel – just countless viewers did every time “Veronica’s Closet” came on TV. But don’t downplay the loss of nearly 230K American lives. And please, wear a mask!
