ONLY THE BEST PEOPLE: MARJORY TAYLOR GREENE

When I began creating this website, I thought I could either write a hundred thousand words or so and include two or three hundred of the inhabitants that occupied the disease-filled, swampland known as Trump World or I could write a hundred thousand words on Marjory Taylor Greene.

I could not do both.

But here I am.

When I got started, I thought that Marjory Taylor Greene was perhaps the worst inhabitant of Trump World?

I was wrong.

Greene is not a pedophile, a murderer, or a traitor.

There are worse people serving with her in Congress. It might be worth mentioning that there are more awful people serving in Congress than there have been in a century – most of whom serve in the House Freedom Caucus.

Marjorie Taylor Greene was in the House Freedom Caucus until she was expelled.

We’ll get to that.

Let’s start with how we were introduced to Marjory Taylor Greene, who represents the 14th congressional district in Georgia, when she heckled a student from Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school who had gone to Congress to call for stricter gun control legislation after a 19-year-old former student shot and killed 17 students, teachers, and adults with a semi-automatic rifle in less than six minutes in February 2018.

Video shows Greene taunting Parkland student David Hogg as he walked toward the Capitol in early 2019 to appeal for stricter gun control laws. Greene begins shouting at Hogg, falsely claiming that he was funded by liberal billionaire George Soros.

Hogg ignored her.

“He’s a coward,” Greene says at the end of the video as Hogg walks away.

What kind of a human being would scream at a high school student who survived a brutal massacre where his classmates and teachers were murdered?

I have already stated that she is a truly awful human being but, in fairness to her, I wanted her to speak for herself.

Greene, who called Hogg “#littleHitler” on social media, said she was protesting Hogg’s “radical gun control agenda.”

What kind of person does that?

Hogg told CNN that he made a conscious decision to ignore Greene, adding that he tried to “keep a straight face” and practice mindfulness meditation that helps him cope with PTSD and ADHD.

“I was told growing up, it’s just better not to respond to bullies and just walk away,” Hogg said.

CNN reported that Hogg “absolutely” felt threatened when he learned that Greene was carrying a gun, but told himself, “if they shoot me, they prove my point.”

“And the reality is, they can’t kill a movement,” Hogg added in his interview with CNN.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/27/politics/marjorie-taylor-greene-david-hogg-video/index.html

Greene expressed her doubts that the school shooting didn’t happen.

She said it was staged.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/jackbrewster/2021/01/28/parkland-shooting-survivor-blasts-marjorie-taylor-greene-over-video-confrontation/?sh=5c9eb53e327b

What kind of person does that?

This is a trick question.

The answer is Marjory Taylor Greene.

Greene, who was not yet a congresswoman, had called for the hanging of former president Barack Obama and former secretary of State Hillary Clinton in April 2018 because they had negotiated a deal with Iran that agreed to suspend its nuclear program in exchange for the relief of sanctions against the country.

https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/what-iran-nuclear-deal

Greene then ran for Congress as a pro-school shooting, pro-hanging, pro-life conservative.

This was not her last exchange with David Hogg, who continues to work to try to end gun violence.

Greene posted on Twitter in February 2023 that she was attacked in a restaurant by “an insane woman and screamed at by her adult son. They had no respect for the restaurant or the staff or the other people dining or people like me who simply have different political views. They are self-righteous, insane, and completely out of control. I was sitting at my table, working with my staff, and never even noticed those people until they turned into demons. People used to respect others even if they had different views. But not anymore. Our country is gone.”

Hogg replied by tweeting:

“Hate when that happens. I was attacked and screamed at in 2018 by an insane woman named Marjorie Taylor Greene. She had no respect for the privacy of me as an 18 year old school shooting survivor or my staff. She was self righteous, insane, and completely out of control.”

Marjory Taylor Greene’s unhinged response to Hogg was not an isolated reaction – it was in fact, to quote Shakespeare from Macbeth, the story of MTG’s life, “a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

But it did signify something about MTG.

In late February 2019 MTG went to the office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with a petition calling for Pelosi’s impeachment for “treason.” She called Pelosi a “traitor” and said she should be executed. When asked about this, Greene initially denied she had ever having called Pelosi a “traitor”– until she was shown a videotape of her saying that Pelosi was “guilty of treason . . . a crime punishable by death.”

https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/26/politics/marjorie-taylor-greene-democrats-violence/index.html

https://www.independent.co.uk/tv/news/marjorietaylorgreenenewshearing-b2063648.html

Greene also went to the offices of Muslim congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib and said they were not “official” representatives because they had taken their oath of office on the Quran.

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/05/14/politics/kfile-marjorie-taylor-greene-alexandria-ocasio-cortez/index.html

But MTG was not through on her magical, mystery, irrational, demented tour of Congress.

Video captured Greene taunting Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s staff outside a locked office in 2019 by screaming through a mailbox slot urging her to come out.

She screamed through a mailbox slot!

(She wasn’t in the office).

“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, I’m an American citizen. I pay your salary through the taxes that you collect for me through the IRS because I’m a taxpaying citizen of the United States,” Greene says, noting elsewhere in the video that members of Congress are “employees” who “work for us.”

“So you need to stop being a baby and stop locking your door and come out and face the American citizens that you serve,” she says. “If you want to be a big girl, you need to get rid of your diaper and come out and be able to talk to the American citizens. Instead of having to use a flap, a little flap. Sad.”

In addition, she called AOC “crazy eyes” and “nutty.”

https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/14/politics/kfile-marjorie-taylor-greene-alexandria-ocasio-cortez/index.html

Greene undermined her verbal attack on AOC by mispronouncing AOC’s name . . . and by calling her “crazy.”

Did I mention that MTG was screaming through a mail slot?

Or that she gets her political advice from sock puppet named Slappy?

Sad.

When Greene returned to Georgia, how do you think the people of the 14th congressional district responded?

She was committed to a locked, room with padded cells with the only opening to the outside world being a mail slot.

No.

They elected her to Congress.

Sad.

Greene says that her opposition to gun control is based on her experience of being a high school student when an armed student held 40 to 50 students hostage before a teacher wrestled the gun from the armed student and police arrested the student without anyone being injured.

Greene, who was evacuated from the school, was not one of the students who were held hostage.

https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/marjorie-taylor-greene-gun-reform-aoc-b2095178.html

Business Insider reported that when Greene was running for Congress in 2020, she called the teacher who subdued the gunman, Johnny Tallant, to tell him that the solution to school shooting was more guns in school.

“She called me last summer before she started to campaign and was talking about the hostage situation,” Tallant said. “Her comment was that if we had had guns it would have solved the situation. I said, ‘You’re an idiot.’

When he learned that Greene had called gun-free schools a failure, Tallant responded:

“Now I realize she really is an idiot.”

This brings us back to MTG’s story, “a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury.”

Greene was sworn into her first term in Congress in early January 2021.

She took the oath of office not by putting her hand on a Bible but by putting it on a pair of sweaty undershorts belonging to Alex Jones.

Not really.

It was a sweaty pair of undershorts worn by Steve Bannon.

A month later, MTG was stripped of her committee assignments in response to “her past incendiary comments and apparent supporter of violence against Democrats,” NPR reported.

https://www.npr.org/2021/02/04/963785609/house-to-vote-on-stripping-rep-marjorie-taylor-greene-from-2-key-committees#:~:text=The%20House%20of%20Representatives%20has,Democrats%20to%20back%20the%20resolution.

Washington Post columnist Greg Sargent wrote the following on February 4, 2021:

“Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene — the dangerously unhinged Georgia Republican who is at the center of the GOP’s ongoing post-Trump convulsions — is often described as a creature of QAnon.

“We would do better to describe her as a creature of MAGA.”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/02/04/marjorie-taylor-greene-political-violence/

To quote Meg Ryan in the restaurant in the movie Harry Met Sally . . . “YES! . . . YES! . . . YES! . . . YES . . . YES . . . YES.”

Greene said her statements “do not represent me” because it had been months, weeks, hours, or even minute since she had said something objectionable.

She said she saw “things in the news that didn’t make sense to me.” She then added that she “stumbled across” QAnon.

https://www.npr.org/2021/02/04/963785609/house-to-vote-on-stripping-rep-marjorie-taylor-greene-from-2-key-committees#:~:text=The%20House%20of%20Representatives%20has,Democrats%20to%20back%20the%20resolution.

If you struggling to make sense of a world full of sound and fury, the first thing you should do is to turn to QAnon – just as someone who thinks they’re smoking too much pot should give opioids a try.

MTG, who said she was “was upset about things” and did not trust the government, began posting conspiracies on social media.

Or she could have spent a few minutes checking to see if the conspiracies she was spreading had any truth to them?

Or she could have screamed through a mail slot.

Here is a list of some of Greene’s most extreme actions and statements:

She wrote a press release calling for the execution of Nancy Pelosi for treason.

She posted an image on Facebook of her holding a gun to the heads of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib. The caption urging her supporters to go on the “offense against these socialists.” Facebook saw it as a threat to the life of the congresswoman and removed the post.

She endorsed the QAnon conspiracy that Donald Trump and the Republicans were in a battle with a cabal of “Satan-worshipping, child-abusing Democrats and celebrities.”

She spread the right-wing conservative conspiracy that the Hillary and Bill Clinton had killed a number of their associates.

She also supported the right-wing conspiracy that the Clintons and the Democratic Party ran a human-trafficking and pedophilia ring out of the basement a pizzeria in Washington, DC.

In a blog post, she suggested that the woman who was run down and killed by a racist at a White supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, was an “inside job” to “further the agenda of the elites.”

She also disputed the terrorist attacks on September 1, 2001, saying there was no evidence that a plane crashed into the Pentagon.

CNN reported that she had retracted some of those statements.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/04/politics/kfile-marjorie-taylor-greene-history-of-conspiracies/index.html

But the poison that created those thoughts still exists in what passes for her brain.

Here is what Greene has said or done since joining Congress:

She compared the government’s COVID-19 safety measures to stop the spread of a virus that has killed a million Americans to the persecution of Jews during the Holocaust.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/05/21/politics/marjorie-taylor-greene-mask-mandates-holocaust/index.html

She supports Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian government in its invasion of Ukraine and, by implication, Russian’s war crimes against Ukrainian women and children.

https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-marjorie-taylor-greene-race-and-ethnicity-europe-mitch-mcconnell-6dd6985db085537fcb103c0d022ac775

She is a stronger supporter of former President Donald Trump’s baseless ……..that he lost the 2020 Presidential Election because of voter fraud.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/rep-marjorie-taylor-greene-discloses-great-call-with-trump

She has called for the impeachment of President Joe Biden days after he became president because, well, apparently, she saw “things in the news that didn’t make sense to me,” and after consulting with her sock puppet Slappy, called for the impeachment of Biden.

I could go on and on and on.

I will end with her spat with Lauren Boebert and her ouster from the House Freedom Caucus.

SEE LAUREN BOEBERT

SEE HOUSE FREEDOM CAUCUS

Boebert called for the impeachment of President Joe Biden regardless of whether Biden has committed an impeachable offense or committed any crime.

This led to the tiff between Boebert and MTG, who criticized Boebert for copying her impeachment resolution.

“I had already introduced articles of impeachment on Joe Biden for the border, asked her to co-sponsor mine — she didn’t,” Green told reporters.

The video of the exchange on the House floor was caught on C-SPAN cameras.

According to witnesses, Boebert confronted Greene about her criticism.

Greene angrily responded.

“I’ve donated to you, I’ve defended you. But you’ve been nothing but a little bitch to me,” Greene (R-Ga.) reportedly told Boebert (R-Colo.). “And you copied my articles of impeachment after I asked you to cosponsor them.”

After Greene cursed her colleague out, Boebert shrugging her shoulders and snapped, “OK, Marjorie, we’re through.”

“We were never together,” Greene reportedly shot back.

Asked about Greene’s claims that she copied her resolution, Boebert said: “I’m not in middle school.”

https://www.insider.com/boebert-not-in-middle-school-marjorie-taylor-greene-023-6

In the words of the late Pee Wee Herman, “I know you are, but what am I?”

Democratic adviser Jon Cooper responded on Twitter:

“Any day that Marjorie Taylor Greene calls Lauren Boebert a ‘little bitch’ to her face on the House floor is a good day.

Greene was then ousted from the House Freedom Caucus.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/marjorie-taylor-greene-officially-kicked-freedom-caucus-gop-lawmaker-s-rcna93962

When Greene was ousted from the House Freedom Caucus she told reporters:

“I don’t want to belong to any club that would accept me as one of its members.”

Greene would of course never quote Groucho Marx because she thinks he’s father of communism.
