Omarosa Manigault came to the public’s attention when she became known as “reality TV’s number one bad girl” during the first season of The Apprentice.
The program was hosted by real estate developer Donald Trump.
Omarosa, as she became known, was fired in week nine.
She remained on the program long enough to transform herself into a reality television star. She then became the second unqualified person to go from being on a reality program to working in the White House in the Trump Administration.
Unlike Donald Trump, Omarosa had worked in politics before, working in the office of Vice President Al Gore during the Bill Clinton Administration.
“She was the worst hire we ever made,” said Mary Margaret Overbey, Gore’s former office administrator told the New York Times.
Omarosa was then transferred to other jobs in the administration. But Cheryl Shavers, then the agency’s undersecretary for technology administration, told The Times that Manigault “was unqualified and disruptive,” so “I had her removed.”
The Times found other issues involving Manigault’s credibility.
Manigault identified herself on her website and elsewhere as once working as a professor at Howard University. The university disputed that. She had never worked as a professor at Howard. She also said that the only thing she needed to complete her doctorate was for her to defend her dissertation. But the chairwoman of the Communications department said that the grace period for completing her doctorate had expired a decade earlier.
The Trump White House hired her to serve as a liaison between the administration and African-Americans.
Manuigalt got the job through her connections with Trump and because neither Trump nor his staff apparently knew any other Blacks.
“She is the highest-ranking African-American in the White House, and she has the ear of the president,” Paris Dennard said.
Dennard once worked in the George W. Bush White House and then found work as a flunkey on CNN and NPR for Trump and other Republicans before he was fired by the networks after the Washington Post published a series of allegations.
The allegations included, among things, that he had been fired from his job at the McCain Institute at Arizona State University after telling a subordinate he wanted to have sex with her and then pretending “to unzip his pants in her presence, tried to get her to sit on his lap, and made masturbatory gestures,” and that he once touched a female employee’s “neck with his tongue” and “whispered in her ear that he wanted to ‘f—’ her.”

On December 13, 2017, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly fired now-Manigault Newman for using the White House car service for personal use, which is forbidden by government staff. In addition, after she was married in April, she brought the wedding party back to the White House for a photo shoot.

Manigault Newman surreptitiously taped being fired by Kelly and then she aired the audio on NBC.

She would later be fined $60 thousand for not filing her final financial disclosure forms.

After leaving the White House, she wrote a book, Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House, where she calls Trump a racist who uses the “N” word.

This was hardly a bombshell revelation — it was like saying that water is wet.
Manigault Newman then returned to appear on a series of reality programs, becoming the only member of the Trump Administration to go from a reality program to the White House and then back to reality programs.
Trump responded to the publication of her book by tweeting:
“When you give a crazed, crying lowlife a break, and give her a job at the White House, I guess it just didn’t work out. Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog!” Trump tweeted.
