ONLY THE BEST PEOPLE: STEPHEN BALDWIN

Stephen Baldwin is the youngest and least talented of the four acting Baldwin brothers.

If he were a Barrymore or a Redgrave, this wouldn’t be so bad.

But he’s a Baldwin.

Stephen first got into politics as an enthusiastic defender of Republican Sarah Palin, an Alaska governor who was so laughably incompetent as GOP presidential candidate John McCain’s running mate that she may have cost the GOP the 2008 presidential election.

See Sarah Palin.

In his endorsement of the McCain-Palin ticket, Baldwin, a born-again Christian, called Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential candidate a “cultural terrorist” by citing the Bible, which does not use the words “cultural terrorist” or “Obama.” Baldwin also questioned without evidence whether Obama was born in the United States. “There’s a lot of unanswered issues about this dude. Creepy stuff. His birth certificate … you could call it all hokesy stuff,” he said.

There is no doubt – among anyone not wearing a klan robe or with a whit of common sense – that Obama was born in the United States.

There is no word called “hokesy” in either The Bible or the dictionary.

There is word called “hokem.”

It’s a synonym for Stephen Baldwin.

When USA Today asked Baldwin who he was trying to convince with his endorsement, he said, “I’m trying to reach the common-sense people.”

Good idea. There’s no point trying to convince people he already knows.

Baldwin got to know Donald Trump by appearing on Celebrity Apprentice and on All-Star Celebrity.

Baldwin said the following about Trump:

“I think he’d make a great president,” Baldwin told CNN. “He’s not a politician, and he doesn’t care what anybody thinks . . . . He says what he thinks.”

Yes, if you’re trying to describe the three characteristics of a great president, they are: not a politician, doesn’t care what anybody thinks, and says what they think (without actually thinking).

Baldwin’s far more talented brother Alec portrayed Trump on the television program Saturday Night Live during the Trump presidency.
