ONLY THE BEST PEOPLE: STEVE CAPPUCCIO

Steven Cappuccio, a U.S. Army veteran, was convicted in July 2023 of six felony counts involving violent confrontations with police during the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

Cappuccio was convicted of lesser charges than his co-defendant, Federico Klein, a former State Department appointee. Klein was convicted of ten felonies including obstructing the electoral vote count.

U.S. District Judge Trevor N. McFadden acquitted Cappuccio of an obstruction charge and a misdemeanor.

He said that Cappuccio was not politically savvy enough to intend to stop the electoral vote count.

Cappuccio was at last rewarded for his ignorance.

At long last.

Cappuccio’s ignorance, however, did not stop him from assaulting police officers at the lower west terrace of the Capitol.

Video captured Cappuccio and Klein pinning Washington D.C. police officer Daniel Hodges to a metal door frame by the mob with Klein’s assistance while Cappuccio tore away his baton and gas mask while screaming, “How you like me now, f—-er!”

Cappuccio, who served as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle commander in Iraq and Afghanistan, suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, his attorney told the court.

Cappuccio testified, “I heard a voice say, ‘Don’t hit that person. He’s an American. He’s doing his job.’

“Then I thought, ‘Oh f—, what did I just do?’ ” he added.
