Former President Donald Trump praised Laura Loomer, a white supremacist, conspiracy junkie, and failed congressional candidate on an online video in August 2023 as “terrific” and “very special,” the British newspaper The Guardian reported.
He also said of Loomer: “You are a very opinionated lady, I have to tell you. And in my opinion, I like that.”
Loomer, a far-right activist who was banned for social media platforms by calling herself a “proud Islamophobe,” has referred to Muslims as “savages” and Islam as a “cancer”.
Loomer falsely claimed that the mass shooting in February 2018 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school that killed 17 and injured another 17 was staged. She also said the 64-year-old, white man who killed 63 people and wounded more than 400 others outside the Mandalay Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, was associated with ISIS.
Neither was true.

There is nothing to support either of these statements except that she is a grandstanding troll who is a few pecans shy of a nut log.
Trump was among those on the far-right who endorsed Loomer when she ran for Congress in 2020 and won the GOP primary but lost the general election.

Trump tweeted his congratulations during the 2020 political campaign to Marjorie Taylor Greene, who won election to Congress in Georgia.
Greene, an Islamophobic conspiracy theorist who also said the mass murder at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school was a hoax, trolled one of the shooting’s survivors for calling for gun reform, and then screamed into the mail slot on Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s office door.

The New York Times reported in April 2023 that Trump wanted to give Loomer a campaign role in his 2024 presidential campaign, but that this “ignited a firestorm among some of Mr. Trump’s most vocal conservative supporters,” The Times reported, adding, that “a high-ranking campaign official said Ms. Loomer was no longer going to be hired.”
What likely happened was that Trump was informed he had already grossly exceeded the legal number of crackpots, crazies, whack jobs and conspiracy addicts on his staff and would have to get rid of some of them before adding another or face a fine by the Federal Election Commission.
Or it’s also possible that other crackpots, crazies, whack jobs, and conspiracy addicts in Trump World felt threatened that Loomer would replace them.
Speaking of which, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who won re-election in 2022, was one of those who told Trump not to hire Loomer.
“Laura Loomer is mentally unstable and a documented liar,” Greene tweeted.
Greene, as I mentioned earlier, screamed into a mail slot on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and said that the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school was a “false flag operation,” a conspiracy that that claims a shooting was created to make it “look like it was carried out by another individual or group.”

Loomer, Greene added, “can not be trusted. She spent months lying about me and attacking me just because I supported Kevin McCarthy for Speaker and after I had refused to endorse her last election cycle.”

Thirdly, “Never hire or do business with liars,” seems an odd thing to tell Trump.

Trump made 30,573 false or misleading claims in his four years in office, the Washington Post reported.
NBC News reported that Loomer rode with Trump on his plane to campaign in Iowa for the caucuses in January 2024.
She tried to ingratiate herself to Trump by trolling Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was running against Trump for the GOP nomination for president while he campaigned in Iowa.
When DeSantis walked into a hotel, she began pounding him with questions, asking when he was going to “drop out of the race” and whether he’s ‘already wasted enough of people’s money’ as she followed him with a camera,” NBC News reported.
Loomer then posted the video of his encounter with DeSantis on social media.
When DeSantis saw her, she said, “his soul left his body when he saw me.”
Nobody can doubt that statement.
This is the effect that Loomer has on most people.
