ONLY THE BEST PEOPLE: ALEXANDER ACOSTA

Alexander Acosta served as U.S. Secretary of Labor from 2017 until he resigned on July 19, 2019, amid criticism that as a U.S. attorney in 2008 he failed to prosecute Donald Trump’s close friend and alleged human-trafficking ringer leader, pedophile, and rapist Jeffrey Epstein.

The Miami Herald reported that Acosta secretly met Epstein’s attorney far away from the U.S. attorney’s office. “In email after email, Acosta acquiesced to Epstein’s legal team’s demands,” the Herald reported, “which often focused on ways to limit the scandal by shutting out his victims and the media, including suggesting that the charges be filed in Miami, instead of Palm Beach, where Epstein’s victims lived.”

Epstein served barely a year in custody – despite the fact that federal prosecutors identified dozens of girls, some as young as 14, whom Epstein had allegedly abused.

Epstein, who, did we mention was a good friend of Donald Trump’s? was arrested again on sex-trafficking charges in 2019.

By giving Epstein a sweetheart deal, Acosta allowed Epstein to continue preying and raping young girls.

A few days before Acosta’s resignation, federal prosecutors in New York City charged Epstein with having operated a sex-trafficking ring in which he sexually abused dozens of underage girls. The indictment said a “vast trove” of lewd photographs of young-looking women or girls was confiscated from Epstein’s Manhattan home.

Epstein pleaded not guilty.

Acosta tweeted his support: “The crimes committed by Epstein are horrific, and I am pleased that NY prosecutors are moving forward with a case based on new evidence.”
